River Report -- River level finally down to a nice level with decent clarity. We had a great day. 28 smallmouth bass, two 22 inch walleyes and a northern pike. All but five of the bass were over 12 inches. Most in the 14 to 17 inch range. Several lunkers up to 21 inches (4.5 pounds), my client's personal best smb. Most of the fish on spinnerbaits. Also some on Rapala X-Raps. The big bass on Winco's River Darter. Water 69-70 degrees and stained.

River Report -- Water slightly better condition for the first couple hours of a half-day outing. We managed four nice smallies and one walleye. Then the water started to rise again and muddy up more. With Kinzua and Tionesta reservoirs nearly back to summer pools, and no rain in the immediate forcast, the river is projected to drop significantly during the next 48 hours. Conditions should be much improved by Sunday. Water temperature was 69 degrees and muddy when we got off the river in Parker late morning.

Keystone Lake Report -- My client Wes fishes with me multiple days during the July 4 week, a tradition started a few years ago. With the Allegheny still high and muddy we fished Keystone Lake today. Boated around 20 bass. Mostly largemouth, including three very nice ones. And a nice smallie. One of the highlights of the day was Wes getting a follow from one of Keystone's big smallies -- a 20-inch class fish. Followed an X-Rap to within 15 feet of the boat but wouldn't take. Most of today's fish on River Darters and X-Raps. A few on Texas-rigged worms. Water clear and 79 degrees.

Fishing Report June 30 -- I've made the best of the wet weather by enjoying some excellent fishing for native brook trout and wild browns over the past week. Back on the river guiding today. Very high, muddy conditions. We managed a half dozen smallies up to 16 inches. Spent the last half of the day on Kahle. A heavy algae bloom on Kahle. Only six largemouth bass; nothing of any great size. Allegheny was about 5.5 feet above average for this time of year. And only 65 degrees.

Fishing Report -- June 20 Unrelenting rain the the resulting high/dirty water kept me off the river until today. We started off on Kahle. The lake was up about three feet from all the rain (still about 2.5 to 3 feet below "normal" pool). Also discolored. We managed about 30 largemouth during the morning session. The biggest in the 2 pound range. Wacky worms, Texas rigged worms and craws, and River Darters took fish. Even though the river was still up, pushing hard, and very dirty, we spend a couple hours on it during the afternoon. Only managed two smallies, but they were both in the 18 to 19 inch range. Both on spinnerbaits. Kahle was 72 degrees. River 67. River is dropping quickly, but with more rain forecast for next week can't predict when good conditions will return.

Fishing Report -- June 8 A Kahle/Allegheny split trip today. Kahle's action was typical of the past few trips. Numbers down somewhat, but many more quality-sized largemouth. During the morning we boated around 20 bass, including one that weighed just over 4.5 pounds. The river was somewhat slow. The smallies were tough to some by, likely a post-spawn funk that typically occurs after they get off beds. We caught around a dozen bass, including several 15 to 16 inchers. Also two walleyes, and one rainbow trout (a quite unusual catch for the river in the Parker area). Water 71 degrees, clear, and normal flow. The river bass action should pick up with a week or so.

River Report -- June 6 Today was a smallmouth/walleye trip. We boated 5 walleyes; around 15 bass. I appears most of the smallmouth bass spawning activity is winding down. The bass were scattered in a variety of areas. No real pattern today. We caught them on Hard and soft jerkbait, Wacky Worms, Lake Fork swimbaits. Just not a lot on any one presentation. Water slightly stained and 68 degrees.

River Report -- June 6 We did a half-day evening trip today. Started slow, likely the result of the post cold front conditions. A good flurry of action during the witching hour. We ended up with 15 to 20 bass landed, and many others lost/missed. Winco River Darters and Yum Dingers.

River Report -- A good day on the river today. We boated/near-boated around 30 smallies and one decent northern. Most of the bass were in the 14 to 17 inch range. All of them were taken in areas close to spawning flats. Water was fairly clear, normal level and 70 degrees. Winco's River Darter and Rapala Husky Jerk took all of the fish.

Fishing Report -- May 31 A slower day today. We spent the first 3 hours of the day on Kahle. Boated a dozen or so largemouth. Moved to the river. Caught about 10 smallies, with about half being in the 15 to 17 inch range. Water still quite stained, a foot or so above normal, and 64 degrees.

Fishing Report -- May 30 We started the day on the Allegheny, which is down to a fishable level. After doing quick drift through some typically-productive water without a hit, we made a quick move to Kahle. During the seven hours we fished Kahle we boated 68 largemouth bass. A lot of small to medium size bass, but at least a dozen in the 1.5 to 2.5 pound range, and one that looked to be over 3 pounds lost next to the boat. We caught them on a variety of presentations, including Winco's River Darters, Predator Craws and Wacky Worms. Also a bunch on Rapala Husky Jerks and X-Raps. The river should be good very soon, likely within a day or two.

Fishing Report -- May 28 A nice four-hour session on Kahle Lake. My guests boated nearly 30 largemouth. Several nice fish in the two-pound plus range. Rapala Husky Jerks, and Winco's River Darter and Wacky Worm. The Allegheny continues to drop and should be in shape to fish within a couple of days.

Fishing Report -- May 24 The Allegheny River is blown out, and will continue to be unfishable for at least a week. A lot of water needs to be drained out of Kinzua Dam. Kahle Lake has helped take up the slack. A few days ago my friend Tom Fernece and I had an enjoyable evening on Kahle wade fishing with fly fishing gear. We managed around 15 bass, along with a few crappies and bluegills. Today's guide trip on Kahle was productive, as well. We boated 30 to 40 largemouth, including several good ones, the best being in the 4.5 pound range. Wacky worms and Winco's River Darters were two of the more effective offerings.

Fishing Report -- I'd hoped to get my clients out on the Allegheny, but the rapid rise in level had the fish shut down. After less than an hour on the high/muddy water with no action we shifted to Kahle. We caught a pile of largemouth bass, though most of them small. The river is forecast to rise several more feet with the incoming rain in the next couple of days. Looks like the river will be blown out for at least a week.

Kahle Report -- Made it out to Kahle this afternoon for a scouting trip. The bass were very active. Caught around 50 during the three hour session, though many were small (10 to 12 inch) fish. Did get several in the two-pound range, though. The lake is in great shape. Weeds coming up nicely. Water clear. Water temp in the low 60s. The next few weeks will be prime time to combine a Kahle outing with one on the Allegheny.

River Report -- May 8 A very good day. We boated 45 smallies and two nice walleyes. Biggest bass in the 18.5 to 19 inch range. A lot of nice fish from 14 to 16 inches. The walleyes were 20 and 24 inches. Tubes and Husky Jerks. Bass starting to show up around spawning flats. Water fairly clear and 54 degrees.

River Report -- May 6 Back on the Allegheny after a week of high water put a temporary halt to the fishing. A good day. We boated 26 smallmouth bass. Most of the bass were in the 14 to 16 inch range, but we did get a few lunkers including the best of the year so far, a fat 21 incher. Also lost two small muskies. And boated a 27 inch walleye. Most of the fish on Texas-rigged tubes. A few on Rapala Husky Jerks. The river is still a bit high, but is dropping. Excellent water color. 50 degrees.

River Report-- April 25 A good day, especially the first half. We boated 30 to 35 smallmouth and one walleye. More average sized fish today, though about half over 15 inches. Galidas Grubz and Rapala Husky Jerks, mostly. River is in perfect condition; 48 degrees.

River Report -- April 20 On the Allegheny for the second time this spring. Last week's trip trip was a flush, as the river was still too high (due mostly to heavy releases from Kinzua Dam) for good fishing. What a difference a week can make! The river dropped a couple feet. A buddy and I did a scouting trip and caught and released 35 to 40 smallies in less than four hours. We hit perfect conditions, with multiple days of warm weather. All the bass on jerkbaits, Rapala Husky Jerk mostly. One walleye on a Jimmy D Riverbug. Looks like we're up and running.

River Report -- Nov 11 A fairly slow day today. We boated 15 to 20 smallies. Most were in the 12 to 15 inch range, though two 18 inchers and a 19 incher were included in the catch. Tubes. Water temp 45 degrees.

River Report -- Nov 10 A windy day on the Allegheny. A buddy and I fished for six hours, and managed 15 smallmouth bass and four nice walleyes. Most of the bass in the 14 to 16 inch range. Walleyes were 21 to 22 inches. Tubes, craw-jigs, and hard jerkbaits. River temp 46 degrees. Some floating leaves. No problem with weeds.

River Report -- Oct 31 A good fall outing. We had to work for fish, but were rewarded with some nice ones. We boated around 25 smallies, and lost/missed a bunch. Throughout most of the day they were biting lightly, though we had a couple sprees where they jumped on baits. Today's most productive offering was Jimmy D's Riverbug. Also caught some on T-Rigged Yum Dingers, T-Rigged Zoom Speed Craws and Rapala Husky Jerks. Water 50 degrees, and up from last night's rain. Weeds and floating weeds hampered efforts in some areas.

River Report -- Oct 24 Big changes in river conditions during the past week. Water temperature down to 51 degrees, and about 1.5 feet higher than it's been. A very good day today. We boated around 50 smallmouth bass, along with two 20-inch walleyes. 75 percent of the bass were nice sized fish in the 14 to 18 inch range. Jigs were the ticket today, with tubes, hair jigs and jig-worms taking most of the fish. Anyone looking to do a late fall trip should consider setting one up within the next two to three weeks.
