River Report -- August 14 Similar action today as with recent trips. First three hours or so were very productive. My late morning the bite tailed off and we worked hard for fish the remainder of day. Ended up with 25 or so smallies and two walleyes. Most of the bass medium-sized, though several were in the 15 to 18 inch range. Flukes and Rapala X-Raps. Water temp 74 degrees, clear and low.

River Report -- Aug 9 A good day on the river. We boated around 30 smallies. No giants today, but several fish in the 14 to 15 inch range. As has been the case for a couple weeks, the action was good early, slacked off during mid morning and early afternoon, then picked up again toward mid afternoon. Flukes and Winco River Darters accounted for the majority of the fish. Several also on Rapala X-Raps. Other baits that produced fish included a jig-worm combo, Galida Grubz and Cordell Big O crankbait. Water low, clear and 74 -76 degrees.

River Report -- Aug 5 We didn't get on the water until 9 this morning, missing most of the morning bite. Clients worked hard; we managed 15 or so bass and three nice walleyes before ending the trip late afternoon. Biggest smallmouth was 18 inches. Biggest landed walleye 22 inches. Also lost a walleye right at the boat that was in the 26 inch range. River Darters and Jig/Worm combos took most of the fish. Water temp 77 degrees, low and clear.

River Report -- August 4 A good day on the Allegheny. During the first hour or so the smallies were quite active. We quickly boated a dozen. Things slowed once the sun hit the water. Still, by the end of the day we'd boated/near boated around 30 bass and one walleye. Several good-sized smallies up to 19 inches. A lot of small to medium sized bass as well. Most of today's fish on Winco's River Darter and Zoom Fluke. Water low, clear and 79 degrees.

River Update -- With the river clearing and finally back to summer-like levels I ran multiple trips last week. The numbers of fish are going up; fewer percentage of bigger bass. Half-day trips are averaging 15 or so bass; full day trips 30 to 40. Lots of small to medium (nine to 13 inch bass in the mix), but still catching ones in the 14 to 18 inch range. X-Raps are producing, as are Winco's 4.75 inch Solid Body River Darter. Higher percentage of bigger bass on River Darter, though some have come on the X-Rap, especially early in the morning. River clear and warm (80 - 82 degrees).

River Report -- July 24 Another pretty fair day on the river. We boated 28 smallies and one northern pike. Biggest bass 19 inches. Quite a few smaller to medium sized bass in the mix, which I'd expect as the water continues to clear. Action was fast for the first couple hours, but slowed by mid morning under another cloudless sunny day. Rapala X-Raps took most of the fish. Some also on tubes fished on Winco Flutter head jigs and Winco River Darters. Water temp 73 degrees by late afternoon, clearing and dropping.

River Report -- July 23 Today started off fast for the first hour or so, then slowed for a few hours. The last hour provided another good spree. We ended up boating 35 smallies up to 17 inches, and one 20 inch walleye. Tubes fished on Winco Flutter Heads took many fish, as did leadhead jigs dressed with a section of Yum Dingers. X-Raps also took a fair number of fish. Water level about two feet above summer average, 71 degrees, and still quite dirty. Clarity should improve over next couple of days with no rain in forecast.

River Report -- High, dirty water persists on the middle Allegheny. Water clarity slightly improved from last trip. During a half-day AM trip we caught 10 smallmouth bass and one northern pike. Several of the bass in the 15 to 18 inch range. Tubes -- including Winco tubes rigged on Darter jighead -- took most of the fish. One nice smallie on Winco spinnerbait. Water temp 72 degrees, dirty, and about 3 feet above summer average.

Fishing Report July 11 and 12 -- River fishing was slow the morning of July 11. After boating only three bass in the first 2.5 hours we moved to Kahle. The action was also slow at Kahle, which was experiencing a mild algae bloom. We boated a half-day largemouths and lost a few others. The river smallies were nice size -- up to 16 inches. Terminator spinnerbaits, and one on Winco River Darter. All of the Kahle bass on Texas-rigged tubes. July 12 was spent on the Allegheny, with better results. During a six-hour trip we boated 15 smallmouth and three nice walleyes. Most of the bass were quality-sized -- up to 18 inches. Texas-tubes, Rapala X-Raps, Winco River Darters and Terminator spinnerbaits all took bass. The walleyes, which ran from 18 to 22 inches were all on spinnerbaits. River still about two feet above average, murky, but clearing. 70 degrees.

Fishing Update -- The heavy rains of June wiped out river fishing and forced many cancellations/reschedules. Kahle Lake filled in the void to an extent. As of late June, though, Kahle was loading up with algae, which typically results in some heavy blooms. Late June/early July trips included productive outings on Keystone for largemouth bass; Pymatuning walleye; and finally back on the river for smallies. Trip of July 3 saw the river still high (7 feet at USGS Parker gauge; 2 to 3 feet is average for this time of year) and dirty. We managed some nice smallmouth, but not high numbers. All on spinnerbaits. The Allegheny should be in nice shape within a few days if the significant rainfall does not return.

River Report -- June 5 Slow day on the middle Allegheny. My clients wanted to target walleyes part of the day. We managed to boat two nice'eyes and lost one other. Bass were tough, probably in the annual post-spawn funk. Managed around a half dozen smallies up to 17 inches. Most of the bass on Terminator spinnerbaits. Walleyes on Rapala Husky Jerks. Water temp 67 degrees, cloudy and about 1.5 feet above average for this time of year.

Fishing Report -- May 26 We did a split trip today. Boated around 50 largemouth bass during the morning session on Kahle Lake. Most of them small, but a half dozen in 15 inch-plus range. Winco Wacky Worms and Winco River Darters. During the afternoon we boated a dozen smallies. Nine of them were 15 to 18 inches. We also missed a bunch, as the wind picked up and made detecting light hits difficult. All of the river smallies on Winco River Darters. River temp 67 and clear.

River Report -- May 24 A slow morning gave way to decent action during the second half of a full day trip on the Allegheny. We boated around 20 smallies and lost several others. Most of the bass quality-sized ones in the 15 to 19.5 inch range. All of the fish on Winco River Darters. Water temp 59 to 63 degrees.

Kahle Report -- May 23 A slower morning on Kahle, likely due to the drop in water temperature brought on by two cold nights. We boated around 20 largemouth during the four-hour outing. Winco River Darters.
