River Report -- July 12 Another good river outing, with the water again discolored due to recent rain and storms. Lots of smallies, with plenty of 14 to 16 inchers. Three nice walleyes, including a 28 incher. Most of the fish on Terminator spinnerbaits. Some on Bass Pro Shops Speed Shad, and Bandit crankbait. Water a little high, dirty and 73 degrees.

River Report -- July 9 With improving water clarity and falling river levels, the middle Allegheny is now fishing like it typically does during the summertime. Active fish chasing down moving baits. Today's trip yielded dozens of smallmouth bass, including lots in the 15 to 19 inch range. A couple nice bonus walleyes as well. Bass Pro Shops' Speed Shad, Winco's River Darter and Rapala X-Raps scored big time. I'm booked solid through the end of this month, but have openings in the schedule in August. Now's the time to get on the books for summer river smallies!

River Report -- July 8 River still dirty, but slowly clearing. On today's half-day morning trip we still had some action on spinnerbaits. Winco River Darter and Galida's Grubz too.

River Report -- July 6. Back on the Allegheny today. Smallies were holding tight to cover. Clients worked hard and we rewarded with several nice smallies in the 16 to 18 inch range, plus a nice walleye and northern. Everything on Terminator spinnerbaits. River discolored, 75 degrees, and a couple feet higher than average for this time of year.

Fishing Update -- July 5 Fished Keyston -- both largemouth and smallmouth in the boat, and Kahle the last couple of days. A string of river trips, starting Thursday. Looks like the river will be back in good shape by then.

River Update -- Good action last two days on the Allegheny. Getting them on Galada's Grubz, BPS Speed Shad and Terminator spinnerbaits. Water dirty and a bit high.

River Report -- Jun 28 After a relatively slow morning on Kahle Lake (by Kahle's typical standard) we had a very good afternoon on the Allegheny. Still running high and fairly dirty, but we got smallies up to 18 inches on Terminator spinnerbaits, Galida Grubz, and BPS Speed Shad.

Pymatuning Report -- June 26 Finally. Success on Pymatuning walleyes. Southern part of the lake on crankbaits trolled on leadcore line. Got chased off the lake by storms. Trips are available for Pymy 'eyes on days not all already booked for river/lake bass trips.

Fishing Report -- June 25 Afternoon/evening trip on Keystone. Tough conditions with lots of wind, and following up a bass tournament that must of finished at 1 pm. But we put several nice largemouth in the boat, all between 2 and 3.5 pounds.

Fishing Report -- A nice day on Keystone Power Dam with plenty of largemouth and smallmouth bass, including several quality-sized fish. Most of them on Rapala X-Raps. Some on Wacky Worms and Texas-rigged worms. Got stormed off the lake an hour early.

Fishing Update -- Sunday night storms left the Allegheny high and muddy, so off to Kahle Lake we went. Excellent day on largemouths. Hoping the Allegheny will be fishable again by late week.

River Report -- June 18 A nice morning half-day trip. Good numbers of smallmouth, and greater numbers of mid-sized fish in the 12 to 16 inch range than last few trips. Nearly all on Rapala X-Raps. Water fairly clear, low and warm...80 degrees.

June 16 -- Mostly smaller male smallies today as we fished the post-spawn period. Biggest bass was around 17 inches, but most were much smaller. Rapala X-Raps took most of them. One of my clients spent part of the day with a fly rod, and managed a nice smallie on a Clouser Minnow. Water a bit off color with yesterday's thunderstorms. Running about average for this time of year. 77 degrees. Better numbers of bigger bass should start showing up as fish move out of this annual funk.

June 12 Fishing Update: A recent trip on the lower Allegheny for muskies didn't produce any fish, but we did have a follow from a 40 inch-plus musky. Back on the middle Allegheny today, targeting smallies. Spawning activity seems done, with most (maybe all) the adult smallies in the post-spawn period, which can be slow going for quality-size bass. We caught a lot, but most of them small. A 20-inch spawned-out female was the highlight of the trip. Most of the fish on Rapala X-Raps. Water temp mid 70s, average flow, and fairly clear. Smallies should soon be in their summer patterns, which produce some of the highest catch rates of the year.

Fishing Update -- Spent the last few trips on Keystone Power Dam. Still getting some nice bass in the shallows, but things are slowing down, with fish moving to deeper summer spots. Back on the river today...good trip with smallies in the 16 to 18 inch range.

River Report -- June 2 Pretty good day considering the Allegheny has experienced a seven foot rise and fall in level during the past several days. Lots of smallies, with most of them between 14 and 20 inches. A bonus 20 inch walleye. Nearly all of today's fish on 3-inch finesse tubes fished on 1/8 ounce jigheads. Water temp 65 degrees, clearing and falling.

Keystone Lake Report -- While the Allegheny as high and muddy I did a couple scouting trips to Keystone Power Dam. Getting nice largemouth and smallmouth bass, all in the shallows. If you're interested in a Keystone bass outing the next couple of weeks should still find the bass in the shallows, before they begin moving to summer spots along the weedlines.

River Report -- May 27 A good afternoon/evening half-day outing that include two 20-inch class smallies, another one lost near the boat, a bunch of bass in the 13-16 range, as well as walleye and northern pike. Mostly on River Darters, T-rigged Senkos and finesse jigs. Water temp 64 degrees and up a bit from recent rain.

May 20 -- Another good middle Allegheny smallmouth outing. Most of the bass on or near spawning areas. Lots of 14 to 18 inch bass and bonus walleyes.

May 16 -- Challenging conditions today as smallies were biting very light. And the wind was blowing very hard. Not the best combination. But we put some nice bass in the boat, including this 19 incher. Had to fish a finesse tube slowly along the bottom near spawning sites to get bit. Water temp up to 64 degrees.

River Report -- May 15 Good day on the river. Lots of smallies up to 18 inches. Several walleyes and a 30 inch musky. Most of the fish on Bomber Suspending Long A jerkbaits. Some on Winco's River Darter. Water temp 56 degrees, dropping, and clearing. Bass on the move back toward the spawning areas.

May 10 -- Fishing Update: Suffering though another period of high, muddy water on the Allegheny. The river is on the fall. River guide trips resume this Friday, May 12. Smallies should still be in the pre-spawn period. A couple openings still available for next week (Monday May 15 and Friday May 19). Pymatuning walleye fishing has been very slow, particularly during the day. My scouting trips have not been productive; no one seems to be catching walleyes with any consistency during the day. If/when this changes -- and hopefully it will if the weather stabilizes -- I'll offer trips to Pymy.
